The Jane Project
About the Jane Project
The Jane Project was created from survival, and from hope.
Born out of Because of Jane, this project exists to remind survivors of childhood abuse, domestic violence, and trauma that they are not alone. Jane represents the quiet things that help us endure. the objects, memories, people, or inner voices that carried us through when we had no words and no safety.
The Jane Project is a growing community rooted in truth, compassion, and resilience. It is a place to share stories, amplify survivor voices, and build a web of strength where healing is allowed to happen at its own pace. There is no timeline here. No expectations. Only understanding.
Above all, The Jane Project stands for one simple truth:
Survival is not the end of the story. Hope is real. And healing, however it looks for you, is possible.
Share Your Jane (Only if You Want To)
Everyone has their own Jane.
Your Jane might be a song you played on repeat, a book that helped you escape, a toy you held onto, a person who made you feel safe, your own writing, a piece of art, a character, a place, or something only you understand.
If you feel comfortable, you’re invited to submit your Jane to The Jane Project. Submissions may be shared on this page to help create a living web of survivor strength, one built on choice, respect, and connection.
There is no pressure to share.
No expectation to explain.
No requirement to relive anything.
This invitation is here only if it feels right for you.
Every Jane matters. Every story counts. And together, they remind us that survival never happens alone.
The Night Council- Shannon Brown
Before I had language for what I was surviving, I had my Night Council.
Jane. Rabberta. And Trisha.
They were real to me in the ways that mattered most. They listened when no one else could. They kept watch through long nights when sleep felt unsafe and the world felt too big. Each of them carried pieces of me, and a lifetime of secrets I had no other place to put.
Jane was comfort.
Rabberta was steadiness.
Trisha was strength.
Together, they formed my first circle of protection, my childhood survival. They didn’t fix what was happening, but they helped me endure it.
This is where The Jane Project begins.
With the real Jane. Rabberta. And Trisha.
