Don't Wait Until Tomorrow: The Fragility of Time and Cherishing Who We Love
There is a hollow, quiet ache that comes with realizing just how fragile our time together really is.
A few years ago, the ground was pulled completely out from under me. I lost my biological dad out of nowhere, a sudden, shattering absence that arrived just nine months after saying goodbye to my grandmother. When loss hits like that, back-to-back and without warning, it burns a truth into your chest: everything can change in the space of a single breath.
Now, I am standing in the shadow of uncertainty once again with someone who means the world to me. In these heavy, quiet moments, all the everyday noise fades away. The only thing that matters, the only thing within our power, is pouring love into them right now. Making sure they know, down to the marrow of their bones, that they are cherished, supported, and never facing the dark alone.
We get so caught up in the routine of living that we convince ourselves there will always be a tomorrow. We put off the phone call. We rush through the goodbye hug. We swallow the words because we assume there will be another weekend, another dinner, another chance.
Until there isn’t.
Don’t let unspoken words become regrets you have to carry. If someone matters to you, tell them. Hold on a little longer when you hug them goodbye. Pick up the phone, send the text, and say "I love you" without hesitation.
Cherish the people sitting at your table today. You never know when the world might shift and take the chance away forever.
