Building Love In A Block Filled World

I didn’t just build one world.

I built many.

And in those worlds, I built connection.

What started as a game became a space where friendship grew naturally, where laughter echoed through voice chats, where teamwork mattered, and where showing up for one another was as simple as logging in. Minecraft became a shared language, a creative outlet, and a fun, low-pressure way to connect.

In these block-filled worlds, love wasn’t only romantic. It was built with friends. It lived in cooperation, creativity, safety, and joy. We explored together, protected what we built, and celebrated what we created, block by block, world by world.

I wrote the poem below to honor those moments. This poem is my own, inspired by the many worlds I created and the friendships formed within them.

Building Love in a Block-Filled World

Poem by Shannon Brown

In this pixelated realm, we craft and create,

Through every challenge, our bond does elevate.

Navigating through mines, caverns, and caves,

Together, we conquer, our courage never wanes.

With each sunrise, our structures rise higher,

A testament to our shared passion and fire.

In the End, we face the Ender Dragon's might,

Side by side, we vanquish darkness, bringing light.

We traverse oceans, deserts, and snowy plains,

Exploring landscapes where adventure reigns.

In this blocky world, our love blooms and thrives,

As we build our dreams beneath the pixelated skies.

From humble beginnings in that small hilltop town,

To sprawling castles, we never let each other down.

With pickaxe and shovel, we shape the land,

Crafting wonders together, hand in hand.

Through the Nether's flames, we bravely tread,

Facing dangers together, no fear in our stead.

We gather resources, from diamonds to wood,

Creating a home where our love understood.

But in the darkness, monsters lurk and prowl,

From the depths of caves to the tops of mountains foul.

Creepers hiss and skeletons draw their bows,

Yet together we stand, against all foes.

The howls of wolves echo in the night,

As zombies and spiders emerge, ready to fight.

But with sword and shield, we defend our domain,

In this world of challenges, where we both reign.

In the heart of the forest, we build a treehouse high,

Where we watch the sunset, painting the sky.

Amidst the chirping birds and rustling leaves,

Our love blossoms, like the flowers on eaves.

We host grand feasts in our banquet hall,

Inviting villagers, one and all.

With laughter and joy, our halls resound,

In this world of wonders, where love is found.

With each new update, our world evolves,

New adventures await, our resolve absolves.

Together we’ll explore, until the end of days,

In this Minecraft world, where our love stays.

These worlds mattered because the people in them mattered.

They remind me that love can be shared, creative, and communal, that sometimes the safest and most meaningful connections are the ones we build ourselves.

Block by block.

World by world.
